The King County Flood Control District earlier this month gave the green light to a total of $165,000 in grant funding for a pair of flood reduction projects in the Enumclaw area.
“I’m glad to see continued investments in both preventing flooding and improving fish passage in the Enumclaw area,” FCD Vice Chair Reagan Dunn said in a press release issued on Sept. 10 from King County. “It’s important to maintain the flood control infrastructure that protects our community as well as our natural environment.”
The City of Enumclaw will receive $150,000 for its Battersby Culverts replacement project, which will replace two failing culverts that drain a large area of the approximately 11,000 people.
Officials hope the project will cease frequent flooding between SR 410 and Battersby Avenue.
The remaining $15,000 will go to Drainage District #13 for repairs to its nearly century-old main drainage ditch, which is susceptible to erosion and collapse.
