The King County Executive, Dow Constantine, has announced that he submitted the COVID-19 supplemental budget to the King County Council.

The COVID-19 supplemental budget will total $41.6 million. Revenue sources include offerings from the federal CARES Act. The funds will be used to combat the predicted surge in COVID-19 during this year's flu season.

$16 million of the funds will also go toward providing stockpiles of PPE for both immediate and ongoing distribution.

This is the 5th submission submitted by Constantine. The previous submissions were submitted in March, May, June, and September. According to reports, Constantine's previous submissions were later passed by the King County Council.

“Even as the King County Council considers my two-year budget proposal, we continue our comprehensive response to the COVID-19 crisis," said Executive Constantine in a press release. "This supplemental budget increases our equipment and testing and helps our most vulnerable residents stay safe. We also begin preparing for the safe and equitable distribution of a vaccine when it becomes available.”
