Councilmember Davina Duerr Announces Resignation to Focus on State Legislative Role

Resign

City Council  meeting, Councilmember Davina Duerr announced her resignation from  Bothell City Council effective June 1, 2022.  Per state law, the City  Council must appoint someone to serve the remainder of this unexpired  Council term, which is December 31, 2023.  The process is governed by  RCW 42.12.070 and we will share more details on the application and  appointment process soon.

Councilmember Duerr was first elected  to Bothell City Council in 2015 and was reelected for a second term in  2019.  Davina has served the Bothell Community in multiple civic roles.   Prior to election, she chaired the Bothell Landmark Preservation Board  and was vice president of the Northshore Schools Foundation. She  co-founded and co-chaired the foundation’s M.I.L.K. Money campaign to  raise money for children experiencing homelessness in the Northshore  School District.

In 2018, Councilmember Duerr was appointed to  serve as State Representative for the 1st Legislative District and last  night emphasized her desire and excitement to continue serving the  Bothell community in this role.

“Serving as a Bothell City  Councilmember and a Washington State legislator simultaneously has been  an honor and a challenge. I stayed on City Council longer than expected  out of a sense of duty to my community,” stated Councilmember Duerr  during the meeting.  “Thank you to the residents of Bothell for trusting  me and the honor of serving you these past 6 ½ years. These have been  some of the most fulfilling of my life. Bothell, I will always have your  back. I will still be working for you.”

Councilmember Duerr  expressed warm gratitude to her fellow Councilmembers and city staff  last night, noting her appreciation for their support and hard work. “I  wasn’t sure when this day would come but now feel the time is right,  because we have a new city manager on his way and dedicated staff to  keep the wheels well-oiled and a capable, caring council,” expressed  Duerr.

The City looks forward to working with Councilmember Duerr  in her role as Representative and will continue to work collaboratively  with her on the many issues that are so important to Bothell.
