Be sure to keep the ditches in front of your home empty! Ditches move water away from homes and neighborhoods during storms. Placing grass clippings, dirt, and other natural debris in them can cause clogs in the downstream pipe. This leads to flooding in the fall. Use your green bin to throw out yard waste. Filling ditches in front of your home will cause drainage and flooding issues for you or your neighbors when the rain returns. Modifying ditches in any way requires City approval and a Right-of-way Use Permit to ensure private properties are not impacted by these changes.
