Senator Cantwell Visits Bothell in Celebration of $19M Federal Grant

On Tuesday, August 16, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell  joined local leaders in Bothell to celebrate the $19 million Federal  Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and

Equity  (RAISE) grant recently awarded to the Bothell Way Widening Project.

“Of  the $100 million dollars that the state of Washington got out of the  federal infrastructure bill, and seven projects, this $19 million that  we’re talking about here is the biggest

investment that Bothell has ever  had in transportation infrastructure from the Federal Government,” said  Senator Cantwell.

Bothell  Way NE is a regional corridor that runs through downtown Bothell, and  connects to State Route 522 and to Interstate 405. In its current state,  the road is heavily congested,

prone to accidents, unsafe for  bicyclists and pedestrians, and inadequate for public transit.

The $19 million in RAISE grant funding along with $21.6 million in Federal Highway Administration dollars and $7 million in Move Ahead Washington funds  will allow the City to widen

the roadway, enhance transit services,  create protected bike lanes and install sidewalks to create a safer and  more reliable means of travel for the community.

“Securing a RAISE grant of this magnitude  to complete the Bothell Way Multimodal project is a game changer for  Bothell," said Bothell Mayor Mason Thompson. "The investment

will deliver critical safety, mobility and livability benefits for all of our  residents and businesses, many years ahead of schedule. We are  fortunate to be represented by dedicated

federal

partners."

The  Bothell Way Widening project is one of six transportation projects in  Washington State to receive federal dollars as part of the RAISE grant  program which invests in critical

road, transit and port projects across  the country. The project is currently in the  design phase with actual construction expected to begin in 2026. See  additional details by visiting
