Picnic in the Park on September 10,2022

Picnic in the Park is back! Help the City in celebrating our LFP community on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pfingst Animal Acres Park! Join with

family and friends with music, community and educational booths, a petting zoo, kid’s attractions and activities, food trucks, Public Works Big Rigs, and more! This year’s Picnic in

the Park will also feature a culvert mural painting along NE 178th Street, near Pfingst Animal Acres Park!

The Lake Forest Park Stewardship Foundation, along with the City, ShoreLake Arts, and Urban ArtWorks, are collaborating with 17-year-old high school artist Austin Picinich to paint

a 188-ft-long ‘Save Our Salmon Mural” around the corner of Pfingst Animal Acres Park. The project is a “mural with a purpose” with the goal of raising awareness for salmon

restoration in McAleer Creek.

For those who want to be involved, you’re in luck the LFP Stewardship Foundation and Urban ArtWorks are hosting a Community Paint Day during Picnic in the Park for over 150

community volunteers to help paint the mural. Artist Austin will outline his salmon design in “paint-by-number” format. All you need to participate is a steady hand and a little

community spirit. Previous art experience is optional and kids and families are welcome to join the painting fun – but all volunteers must sign-up in advance here.
